About Deborah

From Dining Room Table to Gallery walls

When you meet Deborah, her dynamic personality and beautiful presence quickly draw you in. She embodies a positive outlook on life and is always looking for ways to learn, grow and explore.

Deborah started her artistic journey with watercolours. She loved this medium, and abstract art spoke to her. She had no art training but a strong desire from within to create. What and how was the big question.

Acrylic Pouring videos captivated her and looked so satisfying, so she gave it a whirl. Deborah describes that she quickly felt joy, inner peace, excitement and fulfillment while experiencing the total unknown of this art form.

What started as something purely for her enjoyment turned into people purchasing her pieces and then organically grew to her receiving requests to teach private and group sessions. Acrylic Pouring Paint nights were then born with sold-out sessions. Deborah realized she had found her oasis and wanted to help others discover theirs.

Deborah became a member of www.HeadwaterArts.com, where 5 of her adjudicated paintings were accepted in the first exhibit of 2019 in the Headwaters Art Gallery in The Alton Mills Art Centre, Alton, Ontario, and she has continued to delight their walls in shows since. Deborah has also showcased her art in The Collingwood Art Crawl. She has been a Guest Artist at a Gallery opening, done demonstrations, participated in International Art and Found Day in Orangeville, Ontario. Deborah regularly shares her passion for Acrylic Pouring in various venues.

The positive impact on her life has had a massive ripple effect. It has led to meaningful conversations with patrons, meetings with incredible artists, and impacting others of all ages. Deborah is incredibly grateful for her supportive family and friends. They actively support her and have witnessed her evolve, smile and blossom like never before.

The Process

Acrylic Pour Painting is magical. There is a surrendering of the artist...yes you...once the paint is on the canvas, it starts its own evolving reactions. You move the paint poetically to create form, flow, balance and texture. There is also the unexpected, which is part of the intrigue and unknown.

Much of the fun of Acrylic Pour Painting is in the preparation. What paint/pouring medium ratio will you use? Will you use silicone? Will you layer, swipe, flip-cup or drag your paint? Will you use tools to enhance the painting process? It’s fun and fascinating all at the same time!

What do you see?

When you experience a lesson with Deborah it all begins with an idea in your mind. Perhaps you start with your favourite colours. Then you look at how they will contrast on the canvas. There is theory around which colours are heavier and which will blend too much and mute others. After some careful thought, teaching and some fun play. You will look at the canvas and start to see shapes in your painting. It feels like a magical and relaxing experience. People always say they want to come back again.

Deborah has a keen eye for colour, and her artwork shows how beautifully she pulls colour together to create vibrant contrast and detail. She will teach you this in her classes so you leave with a peace that is rich and vibrant too!

Deborah loves to help people process their experiences while they are doing their artwork. While her current passion is sinking into her artistic expression her lifelong pursuits have ultimately lead her down a path of the healing modalities. Helping others through her artwork has just made sense.

Undoubtedly you will hear her say “What shapes or images do you see in there? I see all kinds of things taking form?”

Creating Art

I am filled with joy sitting down in my studio. Light drenches the room, green foliage peeks through my windows and I immediately feel inspired to create. My walls are adorned with art pieces from the beginning days of experimentation and onward.…

I am filled with joy sitting down in my studio.

Light drenches the room, green foliage peeks through my windows and I immediately feel inspired to create.

My walls are adorned with art pieces from the beginning days of experimentation and onward.

I see how far I have come in my personal evolution.

Directly across from where I create is a signed poster from Jane Goodall, scribed with “Follow Your Heart"!” She really had no idea how much this has meant to me.

Every day, I follow my heart. Every time I do an acrylic pour piece, I pour with a feeling of love in my heart

I am genuinely filled with gratitude for all my life experiences and for all the love my patrons have shown me. I have found my oasis and it might be yours as well. Come and experiment with me!
